Mr Samuel Sloan is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon subspecialising in Spinal Surgery, based at the Royal Victoria, Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children & Musgrave Park Hospital. He specialises in treating all aspects of the spine for spinal conditions in both adult and paediatric (children).
Education
Mr Sloan graduated from the University of Dundee Medical School in 2005 before returning to Northern Ireland. Following a competitive interview process he joined the Northern Ireland Trauma & Orthopaedic training programme, gaining fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 2015. He completed his Higher Surgical Training in 2016. In addition he has completed an honours degree in Anatomical Sciences and a Diploma in Medical education.
Qualifications
Mr Sloan has undertaken two fellowships in Spinal Surgery, the first being in Belfast in 2016/17. In 2017/18 he completed a Spinal Fellowship in Sheffield, England. This is a well-established and world-renowned spinal fellowship incorporating all aspects of both adult and paediatric spinal surgery. He worked the Northern General and the Sheffield Children’s Hospital under the tutelage of some of the most experienced and respected UK spinal surgeons. Upon his return he took up his current consultant post in Belfast. He is actively involved in teaching and research with Queens University.
